Re: Club statement (Leamington)

No standing by the pitchside rail. If that does not deter, get some stewards who could stand a chance of catching those entering the field of play. Also organise /prepare for the scenario by getting the gates shut to stop them leaving the ground. Agree with the comment above about fan behaviour in ...

Re: Southport 1-0 Leamington - Match Thread

Well done to the team, I unfortunately had to miss it and maybe that’s the key - the rarely win when I attend! Now to build some momentum like roughly this time last year, …..then maintain it!

A goal a game rather than 2 per game then?! 😂

Re: Leamington

Hi Stephen - always appreciate your articles and interviews as it’s another view from the manager as opposed to club endorsed content (though I appreciate that too!). I suspected his ‘do it properly’ comment was a reiteration of Liam’s ‘putting into the right areas’ that we see. Would often have bee...

Re: Darlington 3-2 Southport - FA Cup - Match Thread

If it was ugly but effective you could make an argument, but it isn't. I don't think some people, Mr Kyle included, have fully comprehended what 3 wins in 23 IN THE NATIONAL NORTH really means. If we had that streak during our Conference days it would be a nightmare, but this is hitherto unthinkabl...

Re: Darlington 3-2 Southport - FA Cup - Match Thread

Someone has to answer to that, explain why and come up with a plan to turn it around. I agree with that. My personal view is that Liam is the right man for the job. For a myriad of reasons. But yes, there needs to be more of a plan. There’s a lot of men who aren’t the man for the job unfortunately ...

Re: Darlington 3-2 Southport - FA Cup - Match Thread

Not sure you can have a pop at Liam or the players on this one. Listening on commentary it appeared to me they put 100% in - what can you do when you’ve got 10 men for 85 mins, and they equalise when we have nine on the pitch? Clearly the lads worked their arses off today. Just one of those days (u...

Re: Darlington Predictions

:) Watson's last fixture?? Not likely, we could be hit for six and I don't think it would be the end. It sounds like we will be bringing Carver in on loan when he gets fit in a couple of weeks. Ian will be waiting to see if that changes our fortunes so that's another couple of months minimum he'll b...

Re: Chester 1-0 Southport - Match Thread

I would say being the better team in the first half doesn’t show up on the highlights as they were few gilt edged chances. The nearest we came was when we were playing poorly & Hmami hit the post. Any kind of sharpness up front would have seen us get a point.

Going to Prescot v Bamber Bridge in the Cup on Saturday which is a clash of two former Port midfielders who are now managers. Kevin Lynch for Prescot and Jamie Milligan for Bamber Bridge.

Re: Chester 1-0 Southport - Match Thread

After last night my last 8 Southport away matches (last season and this) have the combined record Played 8 Won 0 Drew 0 Lost 8 Goals for 3 Goals against 22 I think I may be the problem and have tendered my resignation for board consideration. I’d like to thank my staff for their efforts, the train c...

Re: Transfer Rumours

Liam's interview after last night states a deal had been agreed but the player injured is quad. From Scunthorpe's website ahead of their trip to Alty this week... Elsewhere, Marcus Carver is set to miss out after picking up a strain in training, while attacker Jordan Hallam (hamstring) and defender...

Re: Chester 1-0 Southport - Match Thread

Game changed with the subs. We took off Bainbridge who'd been the most influencial holding midfielder. At the same time, Chester brought on the experienced Kev Roberts who was their most influencial midfielder. At the drop of a hat, we lost the midfield we'd been winning and the momentum changed. B...

Re: Chester 1-0 Southport - Match Thread

I agree wholeheartedly with what David _1276 has said. We didn’t have the confidence to keep playing football against a really quite poor Chester team once they’d scored (by the way they were several levels poorer than last seasons match, mainly because it was a second string midfield - they didn’t ...

Re: Chester 1-0 Southport - Match Thread

Our more considered approach of the first half didn’t last because as the old boxing adage says ‘everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth’. As soon as we went 1-0 down we reverted to route one and looked less likely to score as the minute ticked by. Whilst there are positives to take ...

Re: Chester 0-0 Southport - Match Thread

I’d venture the quite extraordinary verdict for a Port away match and say we’ve been the better team. There was long periods where we had more of the ball and actually passed it rather than launched it. Midfield has been particularly effective. It seems like a conscious effort to be more creative, t...
