Think Russ captained the development (KGV college thingy) back in 2010 (ish). Sure I will have got that (date or what he did) wrong but he does have the potential now to fill the role imo.

Re: Come follow southport...a club where fans views matter

I appreciate your efforts, as I am sure we all do. Over the past month or so I have noticed a fair few activities happening at our club. Perhaps it might be good to have a weekly update about "others" such as Everton under 18's, Southport ladies, kids matches for example. Not suggesting ma...

Re: Come follow southport...a club where fans views matter

There is not a lot happening at present. If you think about it our season may be "over" but realistically we were scheduled to keep playing well into May which means players are still under contract, albeit furloughed, for a while yet so we can't do anything with them. Same at most other ...

Re: New Director

I think our ‘core support’ is far more than 400. Probably 1000-1500 attend reasonably regularly, say 10-15 times a season. An average home support of say 800 is not the same individuals each week. With the best will in the world most of us couldn’t attend every single game. By core support I mean t...

Re: New Director

Didn't really tell us much about Tony Evans, other than he was a mate of Liam's. He didn't seem very prepared for the questions and was very vague when answering. Not sure that Tony had pre-sight of the questions for which he "was very vague when answering". I think we need to give the ma...

Re: Rock and Roll Football @ SFC

Just a little bit of further information about the possibility for some sort of regular social at the club, there are - or were - several operating within the town pre pandemic. A monthly one at the Botanic and weekly ones at Birkdale Labour club and the Railway club. The one at the Labour club is ...

Re: New Director

Personally I think we all need to chill out and cut the club some slack. Keeping the website up-dated, generating and producing new content etc all takes time and requires someone with the necessary skills to commit their time to it. I know that Rob does a fair bit and that our former Secretary also...

Re: Rock and Roll Football @ SFC

On a slightly similar but different note, have you considered hosting a social event for adults who have a learning disability? I believe it’s also your line of work. There is one at Bamber Bridge football club that, pre-lockdown, would get over 100 people attending every Monday. Fills their bar on...

Re: Rock and Roll Football @ SFC

The potential for attracting enough people also rests with the bands / artists booked. For example, local band Fag Ash Lil invariably have a good following and have easily "rammed" the bar to the rafters on those occasions we have had them on. But when were they last on at the football cl...

Re: Rock and Roll Football @ SFC

You won't get many heading to Haig Avenue to pay to hear live music when there's a reasonable number of venues offering it free in town every weekend during normal times. Live music at local level tends to be part of a night out rather than acts you're prepared to pay to go and hear. Acts that enou...

Seem to remember one summer in the late 70's and an open air concert was set up to feature Showaddywaddy , ended up a one big white elephant Ah, yes indeed :-) Some years ago the Hairy one and I actually explored the idea. At this time, a certain often over enthusiastic commercial manager was also ...

Re: Rock and Roll Football @ SFC

I think you could test the waters (and advertise) by trying somebody acoustic in the bar before a match. Getting people interested while they’re at the match is a good start and maybe they could throw in a few football songs as well. Hmmm, now that is a good idea and I might just know one or two po...

Rock and Roll Football @ SFC

Yesterday, I posted on the "off topic" thread. Sadly there have been no responses yet and so I thought I would put a link on here. I am asking for thoughts, ideas and opinions regarding live music and or stand up nights within the Grandstand bar. Do you think live music would attract suppo...

Live music at the club

Although the timing for re-emerging from lock-down and the lifting of social distancing and associated regulation / safeguarding measures for indoor venues remain guess work, I thought I would put this "out there" (just to see what sort of responses we get). What sort of music / entertainm...
