Re: Peterborough Sports Predictions

One name stands out amongst their squad, Michael Gash. Think he has played against us a few times for Cambridge United amongst others. I remember him vaguely, seems he's been around the circuit quite a lot. 35 now but he still knows where the goal is so he's probably the player we ought to be most ...

Re: Peterborough Sports Predictions

Looking at their squad, I can confess to never having seen them play but it doesn't look like it's fit for the level really. I'd expect these and Scarborough to be in or around the bottom 4 this term, so I can't predict anything but a decent home win. Southport 4:0 Peterborough Sports Woods Archer (...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Not sure whether he really counts as a former player, but ex-youth prospect Edvards Servuts was on the teamsheet yesterday as Burscough went out in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup to something called Silsden AFC. As my most local club geographically, it really is a shame how far they've fa...

That'd be why, I wasn't born until 2 seasons after that .

Re: Boston 3 - 5 Southport match

Great result and beyond what most thought was possible on here that's for sure. I didn't go but by the sounds of it the commentators seemed to believe Boston would be challenging for the title this season- given their slightly worse squad than last season I can't see that but definitely playoff cont...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Neil Gibson is the new manager at Connah’s Quah Nomads after leaving Flint Town United in the summer. Completely unrelated but my girlfriend's mum dated him for a while. He seemed a nice guy but I never really got to talk to him about his exploits in a 'Port shirt! 😂 Mainly going down like he had b...

We did sign those 2 Accrington youth players near the end of the season before last (I forget their names) and neither of them played at all I don't think, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same sort of transfer.

Re: The state of play.

I mean if he was totally talentless Accrington wouldn't have signed him in the first place. It's only a 1 month loan and he may well surprise us. I for one hope he succeeds, it's not like we'll be paying them any weekly wages anyway I shouldn't imagine, just another body to have on the bench if he's...

Re: The state of play.

I don't seem to remember him against us for Daisy Hill, but they didn't look like pushovers going forward so if he was in the team he didn't embarrass himself. So long as he hasn't got the attitude of their goalkeeping coach then we'll be alright with him 😂 Edit: It appears he wasn't in the squad th...

Re: Boston predictions

I think we'll go for a point, and get one. Expect a back 5, defensive football and to concede a lot of shots on target.

Re: The state of play.

If it hasn't, where has it gone? In the bank maybe? You're assuming it's all been spent. Perhaps it hasn't. Maybe the plan was to make the few signings we have, see where we are in December then spend to strengthen if necessary. A sensibly cautious approach in the current financial climate rather t...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Marcus Carver signs for Scunthorpe- in the same division we'd have been in this season had he stayed. Disappointing for him no doubt, but as I and others said at the time of his departure, it seems he perhaps should've stuck it out with us until the end of the season just gone.

Re: The state of play.

whatever money we did make from Carver has only gone into extending players' contracts Has it? Are signing on fees or agents fees a significant cost at our level for contract extensions? It's not as if that transfer money has gone on weekly wages which will be paid from income over the coming seaso...

Re: The state of play.

I said it at the time and I'll say it again, without Carver last season's team were nothing to fear for our opposition. Selling him was probably, for me, the most significant insufficiency we've had since the sale of Morgan, admittedly not too long ago. We now have, with the exception of a few, real...

Re: Away coaches.

I think for now, sparing some sort of miracle the best idea might be to set up a 'carpooling' thread on here so people can offer up/ pay for seats for games they are already going to/ wish to attend. I will be driving to some away games next season (not sure where or when yet, I haven't bothered to ...

Re: Bolton (H)

Someone reckons it’s Devonte Redmond, ex youth player with Marcus Rashford, released by Wrexham last month Would be nice if it was him, he's a big industrious midfielder with lots of experience at the level above. Does look like him, and would be a real sensible acquisition as he has a track record...

Does anyone know how serious Josh’s injury is, there was a blue light ambulance outside the ground as I was leaving, hopefully it wasn’t for him. I've seen an image of it, it's a nasty gash on his right foot that I imagine got stitches for straight away. Probably about 2 inches long so I can imagin...

Re: Tranmere home friendly

Zero atmosphere which is disappointing because that's one of the main reasons for attending a live football match! Very little if any banter between the fans and the stewards and police had little if nothing to do! I hope the stay aways return! Much better performance than against Lancaster, the hi...
