Re: signing or lack off
No need for panic stations! For reference we signed Doug Tharme on 19th June last year, he turned out alright. Telford have signed Prince Ekpolo (relegated last season, but a good player), Matty Brown (good, not outstanding) and an as-yet unknown defender from two leagues below. This was the third w...

Re: Bradford PA 0-5 Southport - Match Thread
This was a good performance against a team who were on the bones of their backsides. However we’ve failed to put teams to bed recently so an emphatic win was good to see. Thought it was a fairly even start until we scored twice in as many minutes. Nicky Clee’s clicky knee (foot) swung into action an...

“Out for the season” on 26th March doesn’t give a lot away, their season finished on 23rd April!
Hopefully it was nothing too serious and something that he’ll recover from in time for pre-season.

Southport v AFC Telford United
Our first regular season league game in May for about 20 years by my reckoning. Would be nice to get at least one win from the last two. Telford are battling at the bottom so not an easy one for us. The fact there’s nothing on it for us will probably knock a couple of hundred off the crowd compared ...

Re: Farsley Celtic 2-0 Southport - Match Thread
I think we’ve run out of legs. A few in particular don’t look 100% fit and are still being asked to play week in, week out. We’ve been caught out by having a small squad this season, but this has always worked for Liam in the past. We’ve had injuries this season to Chris Doyle (3-4 months), Russell ...

Re: Southport 0-0 AFC Fyld€ - Match Thr€ad
This was a really spirited display from the Port in response to the late disappointment of Tuesday night, and the players deserve a great deal of credit for that.We all know by now the problems SFC seem to be having in front of goal these days, and it was a shame we couldn't capitalise on the numeri...

Re: Southport 0-1 Kettering Town - Match Thread
We were very poor today, slightly better when we went behind, but not much. That referee shouldn’t be allowed near a football pitch again. Referees are human and make mistakes, but if he can’t see Adam Anson being hauled to the ground by his shirt, he needs to hang up his whistle and maybe visit a l...

Re: Kettering home.
It is a big game. Liam said he sees wins in the last 9 games, which is a good attitude, but certain games will be tougher than others - I’d take a point at Gateshead for example. So the home games are important - we need 10 points minimum from the 5 home games, then try and win a couple away. Someon...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!
Possibly mentioned earlier in the thread, but Robbie Cundy (loan 2016/17) is now at Bristol City and appears very much in the manager’s plans. Didn’t set the world alight with us, but we’ve heard that before with players that then go on and play at a higher level.

Re: Southport 3-3 York City - Match Thread
What an entertaining second half! Anything could have happened at the end, but York probably would have felt aggrieved had they lost it. That said, Tyler had a great chance to put us 3-1 ahead and maybe then it would have been a different outcome. He has been superb for us, so I’ll forgive him that ...

Re: Southport 0-0 Brackley Town - Match Thread
From the highlights: (i) their ‘goal’ appears to ruled out for a push on J Doyle at the near post, but you frequently see attacking teams get away with that. (ii) the sending off for me is still correct. By the time Walton goes to ground there’s probably a covering defender, but the foul starts abou...

Re: Southport 0-0 Brackley Town - Match Thread
May have got the numbers wrong but we’ve had a red card against us 4 times this season every time of the sending Off we’ve been drawing only once we’ve gone onto win I think you’re right - Fylde (lost), Curzon (drew), BPA (won), Brackley (drew). We look like we don’t know how to play against 10 men...

Re: Southport 0-0 Brackley Town - Match Thread
A draw probably a fair result. How Ndlovu missed those two chances in the second half, I’ll never know. That said, we had chances too - Walton would have tested the keeper had he not been dragged down by Dyche - exactly the reason the professional fouls rule exists. Think we were denied a pretty cle...

Re: Hereford 0-1 Southport - Match Thread
I think we’ve become a bit grittier, a bit nastier this season and shown a bit more know-how. It’s not a side of football I like, but I’m sick of seeing sides come to us and know how to manage the game, whilst we were unable to.
If that’s what the Hereford fans mean, then great.

Re: Southport v Blyth Spartans - Radio Commentary - Tues 22 Feb 22
The drainage system can’t prevent all waterlogging, even at the higher end of the pyramid, where more is spent on drainage, matches are called off for weather. This word gets overused, but I would say the weather we’ve had over the last 4-5 days with three storms back to back is unprecedented. The d...

Most of the music played yesterday was a bit heavy for my taste, but people moaning? Really? It’s not so long ago we were complaining the PA couldn’t be heard, so at least it can now!
