Re: Alfreton Predictions

Yes,worked a treat last season, where did we finish? Higher up than if we didn’t do it. How many of the teams in the top 7 last season did we beat? Just one but I can’t see what that has to do with long throw ins. But I do accept the cost of living crisis is the long throw-ins fault. up the port Ag...

Re: Alfreton Predictions

O yer,the long throw I'm sure we scored with one of them last season, after hundreds of attempts, bit sad really Fairly sure we scored more from throw-ins than corners last season. vs Everton U23. “The pressure did finally tell just five minutes later, as another long Doyle throw caused chaos in Le...

Re: Southport 1-0 Darlington - Match Thread

Thanks SteH90. One has to ask, are these people Southport fans or just idiots trying to damage the club. So sad. Just an idea, the club, and not necessarily a director but maybe even a player should sit down and talk on a level with the main instigators and educate and explain to them on the conseq...

Re: Southport 0-3 Peterborough Sports - Match Thread

Not sure why Niall didn't come on. Wasn’t fit. It’s disappointing to have injury problems already. There’s bad luck but when your perpetual bad luck runs into a second season you do wonder whether it’s something we should have prepared for. Hopefully it’s just a blip and everybody bar Bell is back ...

Re: Southport 0-3 Peterborough Sports - Match Thread

Some comments about Peterborough are perhaps a little arrogant. Irrelevant whether you’d heard of them or not, they were a decent side. Solid at the back, strong, and dangerous on the counter attack. Teams coming up from that league don’t tend to struggle in this one. Kings Lynn went straight up. As...

Re: Southport 0-3 Peterborough Sports - Match Thread

Here we go again ....... can someone seriously expect there not be serious concerns raised about with a manager who has overseen 0 wins in 10 ...yes 10 home fixtures... make no mistake that’s a wretched result today We should try and replace him with a manager who has only lost three league home ga...

Re: Peterborough Sports Predictions

Only certainty is our two kick-offs will end up going out for throw-ins! True, apart from we’ll only get to kick off one half! It’s kind of intentional in that we don’t (necessarily) plan to keep the ball but put it in an area where the defenders can push up to the half way line and box the opponen...

Re: Peterborough Sports Predictions

Not sure whether anyone on Port Chat knows enough to answer this, but what sort of fanbase do Peterborough Sports have? I've always assumed if you're a football fan from Peterborough, you'd support United, but then again, a Sports fan might find that imsulting, like assuming everyone from Nottingha...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Silsden, like Guiseley, Ben Rhydding, Menston is one of those villages in Yorkshire were they play hockey, cricket, football and/or Rugby out of a clubhouse. Usually family affairs (grandad, dad, son all players for the teams. Played Silsden at cricket a few times in my Leeds days, nice places. Coul...

Alfreton are going FULL ALFRETON this year with 6ft4 Matt Rhead and 6ft7 Tom Denton upfront (a combined age of 71).

Re: Boston predictions

Away from predictions here. Aren’t we meant to be getting a new away shirt? Boston’s home strip clashes with our home strip so I would have thought we would be in the new away shirt. Maybe an announcement coming tomorrow? Called it - and it looks fantastic. Jack Bainbridge looks quite pleased about...

Re: The state of play.

I’d be interested, given Ralphy’s ‘see where we are in December’ post, how often in the last few seasons we have bought players during the season. I’m guessing not many as we seem to have a reliance on loan players from mainly Accrington who don’t know the League, aren’t suited to the League and le...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Marcus Carver signs for Scunthorpe- in the same division we'd have been in this season had he stayed. Disappointing for him no doubt, but as I and others said at the time of his departure, it seems he perhaps should've stuck it out with us until the end of the season just gone. In the end, the move...

Re: Away coaches.

A great idea Dan. Good luck with it! Perhaps the club could also consider a seat sponsorship scheme? £100 for the season, name in the programme on top of a diagram of the inside of a coach, bulk of proceeds used to subsidise the cost of coach travel, maybe keep some to one side to repair a window :D
