Re: News of Former Players - it's back!
According to the Blackpool Gazette, Blackpool's new boss, Michael Appleton will not include Doug Tharme in his 25 players in the official squad list. Apparently Appleton is looking to bring in 4 or 5 players and he needs to trim his squad to make this happen.

Re: Southport 1-1 Spennymoor Town - Match Thread
What has happened to our '14 game without defeat team'? We were playing good, pressing football and scoring for fun. Now we can hardly 'buy' a goal. Summary of the season - 1/3 rd. very good, 2/3rds very poor. As has been said before, we need a bigger squad. We need decent support for Archer (Newell...

Why do we keep putting long throws close to the goalkeeper game after game with no result? Einstein says that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. I wouldn't want to argue with him! Please, please, vary the tactic and maybe we may j...

Re: Southport 2-0 Hereford - Match Thread
It has been a long time since we could travel to Haig Avenue with such confidence. It is a joy to see the team play (much reduced big boot football), create chances and score goals. Long may this continue. Encountering the weather on the way back to the car, how on earth did they manage to put on a ...

Re: Southport 4-1 Boston - Match Thread
What an incredible performance. The work rate was phenomenal and the substitutions worked a treat to bring on fresh legs as we tired. We seem to be scoring goals for fun. Our conversion rate of chances to goals is remarkable. Having said that, Boston for all their possession, did not get in our box ...

Re: Southport 3-2 Chester - Match Thread
TIME WASTING First things first. Two excellent performances and two well deserved wins. However, what upset me was our need to resort to time wasting throughout the game. Do we not have the confidence to play at a regular pace for 90 minutes. Mason plays in slow motion. This antagonises the referee ...

Re: Brackley Town 1-0 Southport - Match Thread
We were beaten before we even got on the coach. There is so much negativity being spoken from Ian Kyle and Liam Watson. We can' beat full time teams, clubs with budgets 4 or 5 times ours, teams in the top six, Chorley (bad draw in the Cup), etc. etc. It surely must get into the heads of the players....

Re: Match Thread Halifax Town v Southport - FA Trophy
Great performance, especially in the second half. Considering the team had not played for a while, they lasted the whole 90 minutes. What a difference a win makes to the supporters. I hope this feeds down into the team, should give them confidence (if we ever play again).

Re: Match Thread - Southport V Curzon Ashton
When we launch the ball forward, how many times do we win the header? The answer is very, very few. Therefore we are effectively giving possession away most of the game. When we played it on the floor we looked much more dangerous. I am afraid Liam's tactics don't work any more. If we get beat at Ha...

Re: FT: Guiseley 4 - 2 Southport
This was an away banker. The first half was barely adequate. The less said about the second half the better. How long is Ian Kyle prepared to put up with this?

Re: Southport 0 - 1 Farsley
It is all getting very predictable. Not able to create chances. Apart from Archer, nobody up front won a header, therefore keep it on the ground and play to Newell and Watson's strengths. No plan how to beat a tough back 4 even when we had 4 up front. Forwards too easily knocked off the ball. Hopele...

Even England can't defend free kicks but 4 in the wall for Southport, including tall players, would help!

Re: Southport 0-2 Spennymoor - Match Thread
The goals were so predictable and avoidable (see two previous posts). We are all told to learn from our mistakes. But that obviously doesn't apply to SFC. What do they do in training? One of the worst performances I have watched. Something has to change!
