Remember Jon McCarthy was an appointee from the Hodgkinson era, so presumably on a decent deal initially at least

Freeing up those wages will have created a little headroom expenditure wise

Re: Southport 3-2 Spennymoor - Match Thread

Now that was a real cup tie! Under the lights, inclement weather. scrappy goals, missed penalty, straight red card, fighting players at the end.. Such a pity so few witnessed it Hmani and Bainbridge stood out in midfield (not often I've thought that about our midfielders recently) Carver never stopp...

Well done everyone who went up there, supporters and players for getting an excellent result

Out of interest, was Jon McCarthy still involved? If not who did the warm ups etc and was alongside Liam in the dugout?

Re: Southport 1-0 Chorley - FA Cup - Match Thread

Goal of the season from Carver with a sensational overhead kick from Doyle’s cross

Chorley almost equalise on half time as Blakeman’s free kick hits underside of bar and bounces out

Decent game so far

Re: Southport 3 - 3 Gateshead - Match Thread

We've just allowed Dean Winnard to leave the premises this Summer- the kind of experienced defender that some punters on here are now calling for? A player I didn't want to leave. Winnard was just so injury prone it would be folly to build a defence around him. Didn’t notice him as a particularly d...

Re: Southport vs Everton u23

Welcome mate. Living in Ormskirk Everton could almost be your local team - only about 10 miles from Goodison. Southport's about 8 Sit anywhere you like, though the Blowick end of the stand is traditionally for 'away' fans Could conceivably actually be an Everton U23 home game, as I'm sure you're awa...

Re: Squad 21/22

I remember Spencer playing in our away defeat at Tranmere in April 2017. He had quite an eventful afternoon. Booked (should have been a straight red) for a horrendous challenge on the lovely Lee Vaughan which resulted in Vaughan suffering a broken leg. Then he (Spencer) scored our goal before himsel...

The concept of a mini league is nonsensical of course. But would the participants be quite as keen to take part if the bottom teams were to be relegated?

Re: Carry on football!

NLN /S clubs have been told that they have to resume playing on Saturday. As for the PR9 issue, I agree Torquay shouldn't be expected to travel. However we all know that if they refuse to do so they will be deemed to have forfeited their place and Southport will go though to the next round by defau...

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!

Former Port midfielder David Lynch (Clitheroe manager) signs for Marine so he can play against Tottenham in the FA Cup third round. Has been managed by Neil Young before, may play against Mourinho’s team and will then return to his day job after the tie. Strange. That is a strange one. Marine have ...
