£2,000 Fine. . Is it fair?

Post by puskas »

It would appear that Southport have been fined £2,000 in the wake of the Covid row last month.

Dover have been hammered £40,000.

Are they fair?

Further at around the time the previous post was being created the club posted this statement

https://southportfc.net/southport-fc-sanctioned/

I would love to know how the league appointed the "independent panel". . . How can it be independent if the league appointed it?

It's ludicrous that any clubs are being punished in these circumstances.

I think we’ve been fined £4,000 - £2k for not fulfilling the Curzon fixture and £2k for not wanting to potentially put the Fylde players at risk.

The rules are the rules, but all common sense has been thrown out of the window here. The National League have acted very poorly here.

Considering the season is null and void it seems a bit hilarious.

This is a disgrace, Bradford have been fined £6000 and are going to fight it! I believe Leamington and other clubs maybe fined too?
This league as I have said before is the WORST ran and administered league in Britain.
Barwick and the new CEO plus the cardboard cut out committee should be forced to resign. They are deliberately attacking clubs who stood up for themselves and league rules on finance all the clubs concerned must join together and fight this disgraceful kangaroo court.

All clubs fined should threaten en masse not to play next season . This current national league board are a bunch of jobs worth idiots whose handling of this whole major crisis has been nothing short of pathetic and moronic.

It's becoming a joke.
The league are an embrassment. There should be a vote of no confidence in the committee.
Poor Dover, 40k fine and 12 point deduction - they will fold and reform...

It strikes me a bit weird that clubs stopped playing for financial reasons and so end up being fined?
Dover seemed quite prepared for demotion, maybe that's why they've been fined instead, almost to spite them? A 12 point penalty next season won't necessarily relegate them next season either ( it wouldn't have done so in the last 2 seasons).

Also, what will they do if any clubs refuse to pay these fines, citing financial difficulties? Increase the fines???

The fine is unfair, but IMO the possible points deduction if you have the audacity to stand up against Barwick and his mates is the big problem.

It means that clubs including Southport start with a disadvantage next season. They have used divide and rule and made a big threat against the clubs who have stood against them.

I don't know about the legality of this, but it is extremely unethical.

My only surprise Is they haven’t offered the clubs loans to pay the fines! Crazy decision by a Crazy board in Crazy times.

Is it time for a crowd funding project to pay the fine - or legal fees for the appeal?

This has to be the most ludicrous decision I have ever heard.

MODS: Appreciate the sentiment but end of this post was probably a bit too strong. Cavjj.

Madness. Tell em where to go. If the clubs stick together bar the well known scabs, the league board will fall before us.

Ridiculous decision. They’re supposed to represent their clubs. Instead they’re punishing them for doing right. You have to ask what planet are these bureaucrats on.

..and what are the league doing with that money...no doubt goes on some fat cat salaries or their own consultancies to make such decisions.

...time to be voicifeous and let their sponsors know fans don’t agree with them. Ultimately this is robbing money from that we have paid as members and season ticket holders and that the club could have spent on facilities and in the community. Do these bureaucrats have no social conscience or awareness.

Let’s Let them know our views if they ever dare to visit Haig Avenue...and make them pay to get in too.

Shame on the league and FA if they allow this to happen.

And WHO are the ‘independent panel’....how are they selected and by whom? How much were THEY paid? Did the member clubs agree they are appropriate panel members?

Let’s see the league be transparent to its stakeholders.
