Re-organisation

Post by port vet »

Wouldn't you think the F.A. had a marvelous opportunity to completely reorganise the whole league system during lockdown over the last two seasons, and put forward their recommendations to to reduce the number of games played in each league by reducing each league to twenty teams in each. With a regionalised third division of north and south which would include 8 teams from the National league like we used to have, The National league would then become just north and south and the winner of each would go into Div.,3 north and south. Would make sense to bring about this change as clubs could budget over a season and cut down travelling. The premier league are even asking about only eighteen teams in the division which would be interesting to find out if this was true, or only the top six clubs who we all know who they are. I know that this could not happen next season, but the F.A. during the last two seasons with disruption to all football, could have had dialogue with the football league and find out if the clubs in the lower leagues would respond to changes. What does everyone think? Is my idea feasible or just bonkers.

They have been...

Slow progress but the FA Leagues Committee have said they want all NL divisions to have 20 sides. They're working from the bottom up. Confirmed in the last few weeks they intend to press ahead with the reorganisation of steps 4 to 6.

The FA needed a fully completed season to decide which clubs were going where, but covid put a stop to that.

James Telford would have aced this Leadership Role.
In the words of Tomkins, "The ethos of Clapham became the spirit of the age."

What an insult to James, he is nowhere near stupid, outdated, inept, corrupt, or bloody minded enough for such a position !..... But I totally agree with what you said, a position like that needs, honesty, good communication skills, integrity, a genuine care for football, understanding of what fans want and expect, all in all, he would have been a great choice, but there would still be the problem of the other twats.
