Re: New Book Coming Soon: The Town's Game
Thought this deserved to be moved to the main forum.
Dan very kindly shared an early draft of this with me, it’s a fantastic book and a significant telling of the club’s early history, along with that of the Rugby Club and other sporting organisations in the town.
‘The Book’ by Michael and Geoff will, rightly, hold a special place in the hearts of those lucky enough to read it but with new research tools like the internet and digitisation of old newspapers - there’s an awful lot of new information in Dan’s book.
Congratulations Dan, hope it flies off the shelf.

Don't fancy this book at all. Not interested in the 1800's or Southport Rugby. I would be interested in a reprint of "The Book" by Michael and Geoffrey, rather than have to pay £100 on eBay

Sounds great, good work Dan.
I am at my most DANGEROUS and EFFECTIVE when UNDERESTIMATED.
Re: New Book Coming Soon: The Town's Game
It'll be available on Amazon in at least Paperback and Kindle format, and it will be available from the Rugby club, and hopefully the club shop too.
Also hoping some independent bookshops will be kind enough to stock it.
All being well it'll be available around the start of the season.

Re: New Book Coming Soon: The Town's Game
On behalf of Southport RFC, we would like to thank Dan for all his hard work in writing such a great book. I have been fortunate enough to have read the draft, and the factual detail is phenomenal, it really gives a fantastic understanding of Sport in Southport at the time.
It may already be noted, but Dan deserves some real credit for the countless hours of research he has given in producing this book; alongside his fantastic research he does promoting the history of Southport FC - Since meeting Dan and following @SouthportFCFPA, I have really enjoyed reading the ‘Looking Back’ tweets and all the fantastic content Dan and team produce.
You as a club are extremely lucky to have such a fantastic historian such as Dan at your club.
Well done, Dan and thank you.

But not interested enough to have bought it for £20 when it came out? £140 looks like the current going rate for those that are on sale.superbike999 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 6:28 pm Don't fancy this book at all. Not interested in anything related to superbikes, tenuously or not.
Would rather have a lottery win.

We're very lucky to have such an in-depth recorded history available to us and for people like Dan, Rob, Michael and others with the passion to keep things going.
