League news

Post by Phila9037 »

The Times is reporting that National League chairman Brian Barwick is to stand down.

The news comes as a group of National League clubs are attempting to put forward a motion of no confidence in him & the National League Board.

Massively past his sell by date along with that dour idiot Gordon Taylor, they’ve milked a very good living out of Football and sport.

Cheerio Barwick....take your mates with you too please.

Football at this level is for and about fans, players and volunteers and not league officials or their sponsors.

Well said on the website Ian Kyle.....keep looking after southport, don’t bother with them....

He should have been sacked ages ago rather than been allowed to resign. Still as they say in footballing speak, a win is a win. All we have to worry about is where will he end up next, probably overseeing HS2,

Quote from Barwick:” “I think it is the right time to relinquish the role – and give somebody else the great privilege of leading the organisation”. Having made a complete and utter mess of handling both the pandemic, and the 20/21 season, it’s only right that he goes, and if the rest of the NL Board had a shred of decency, they would follow him.
Great response from Ian though.

There are enough clubs to force an EGM and vote of no confidence in the chairman and the board, however nowhere near enough to pass the motion.
Barwick has walked before he was pushed....
There are a few more that need to go yet.

Any future for the long serving Vice Chairman, Jack Pearce, who also doubles as the manager of Bognor Regis Town. :?

Jack is on the FA Board and has been on the FA Council for 20 years.

20 years experience dosen't mean you are good at what you do, in some cases it merely highlights what is wrong !.

The more I hear from Ian Kyle the most I like and respect him. He speaks common sense and is straight forward and honest.

Where is the so called "no confidence" vote that was meant to be happening?

The weeks are already ticking over..Barwick is resigning at the end of this season-big deal..
Everyone knows that others must go as well-but I just don't see it happening..
Most fair minded football supporters know of the injustice of the fines and suspended/points deductions for clubs but it won't be the first time of an injustice carried out in the name of football. I just hope that Ian Kyle and Liam Watson have a cast iron case on any appeal before an FA Committee or whoever because they'll certainly need it...

Then there's next season to consider.

Who is to say that clubs won't be facing those "suspended" points deductions for real if we have the same farce of another stop/start season in 2021/22?
I don't need all the whys/wherefores on vaccination roll outs/safety aspects either.

These are genuinely worrying times for Port supporters--never mind anything else football related.

Ref Yellow fever.
It is indeed very worrying times for everyone that cares about football at lower levels. All we can hope for is that the horrific situation will not happen again and if it does, that the "powers that be" do the right thing, which they patently did not this season.
Hopefully vaccinations will allow sports to continue, even if it is with limited attendances. For us a capacity cap of 15-20% would still allow 900-1200, which obviously would be sufficient for the crowds we get but for some clubs with lower capacities, this would not be a sustainable option.
I think all we can do is hope, unless of course anybody has a magical solution.
