Re: News of Former Players - it's back!
Lee Elam has taken Eccleshill United to a 2nd place finish in the Northern Counties East League Premier division, following today's 6-0 thrashing of Athersley Rec. They will now face a play-off, probably with whoever finishes 17th in the NPL East, with the winner being in that league next season. Good luck to him

Especially for PortontheKent and superbike999!......
Yves Zama scored his 7th goal of the season for Fort William last night in their 4-2 home win over Strathspey Thistle. This was also their first win of the season after 32 matches!

Re: News of Former Players - it's back!
Just watching MatchTime Revisited on ITV4 that I recorded from this morning and a very fresh faced 20yr old John Deary came on as a 2nd half sub for Blackpool in their Fourth Rd FA Cup match with QPR in January 1982.
Just looking at his career, very impressive four club career over 17 years, 285 app for Blackpool, 209 app for Burnley, 87 app for Rochdale and 5 app for Port in 1997 when he scored a goal in each of his first four games for Southport apparently, but was sent off in his fifth and final game for the club, before injury forced him to retire according to wiki. Those stats right Rob?

Think wiki is wrong, looked like John Deary played 13 league matches plus 3 Cup matches and scored 4 goals going by Robs SFC super stats that I can see.
Re: News of Former Players - it's back!
Remember John Deary’s spell at the Port with great fondness. Thought he was tremendous for us. Surprised to find that it was only a handful of games.
Re: News of Former Players - it's back!
John Deary still lives in Southport and runs a double glazing firm.

Here's his full list of games for us.YELLOWTAXI wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 10:36 pm Think wiki is wrong, looked like John Deary played 13 league matches plus 3 Cup matches and scored 4 goals going by Robs SFC super stats that I can see.
