Chester 0-0 Southport

We're in a period of national mourning, so it would be DISRESPECTFUL for anyone to do anything that could elicit any positive emotions in fans of either team.

I usually drive to Chester but am looking at the train this time

Easy enough to get to Chester railway station but to the ground from there looks tricky, particularly getting back after the game

Anyone done this trip by public transport for a night match?

Very awkward to get from the station to the ground other than taxi I think. That's what I have done in the past. Its ok getting a taxi from the station as there is a big rank outside but after the game will be the tricky part trying to get one back.

We'll win 2-1.

It is definitely a pain in the arse getting to the station, if you are in a rush a cab is the best bet although traffic is always bad coming out.

Taxi is your best bet from the station, but it is also walkable as well.

From the game, last train back in the Southport direction is 22.30 and that's achievable by both taxi and on foot. Taxis can be a bit awkward after the game though.

Yes, I’d walk up Bumpers Lane after the match as you’ll be quicker than the traffic queue! You could get a taxi at the top if Bumpers Lane on Sealand Road - maybe ask one to pick you up at Sealand Road Retail Park? But as others say it’s not that bad a walk if you have a reasonable pace.

Hi I am hoping to go to Chester tomorrow evening on the train and get a taxi from the station to the ground but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take me back home to Southport in their car? I will of course pay for the petrol cost. Please let me know ASAP! Thanks.

I too have walked from ground to station -35 minutes to do it at a fair pace - so the last connecting train to Southport is achievable - hope the game and result make it worthwhile !

It's actually a slightly shorter walk to Bache station than it is to Chester, and it gives an extra few minutes until the last train departure. Worth considering if you are cutting it fine and know your way.

I was going to try it once going south the taxi service is too tight, I'd drive or coach.

Chester 3 - 0 Southport

Rob Urwin states the lads never stopped going

Liam Watson states this is a great group of lads but they need help

Stephen Killen states we are in for numerous injured strikers and deals are likely before Friday
